Weekend Observations

It was a bounce back week for me in the world of fantasy football.  In my trash talking league I thrashed my opponent thanks to big games by Joe Flacco, Carlos Hyde, and Julian Edelman.  The guy I’m playing has Le’Veon Bell going tonight, but I’m up by 47 points so I’m not going to sweat that too much.  In my hurt your feelings league Golden Tate gave me a little, TY Hilton gave me a little, Duke Johnson gave me a little (My secret weapon), and the Chiefs defense did just enough to carry me to victory.  I won’t brag too much though, my opponent is winless on the season.  Whatever, a win is a win and I’m still in the hunt for fantasy football supremacy.  Here are some observations over the weekend.

Steve Sarkisian is taking an indefinite leave of absence after, sources say he arrived Sunday to team facilities appearing to be intoxicated.  I hope he is able to get the help he needs to get his life back in order.  As for USC football?  This bump in the road will set the program back 5 years.

Johnny Cueto could be the most disappointing trade deadline acquisition in recent memory.  Cueto gave up four runs in six innings his last start and it looks like the Royals have lost complete confidence in his pitching.  Don’t think the Royals are going back to the World Series this year.

The Michigan Wolverines defense posted their 3rd consecutive shutout with a 38-0 victory over Northwestern Saturday.  Michigan won’t win the Big 12 title, but kudos to Jim Harbaugh  for turning things around in Ann Arbor much sooner than expected.

The Jacksonville Jaguars may be 1-4 on the season, but don’t blame Blake Bortles.  Bortles threw for 303 yards and 4 touchdowns in Jacksonville’s 38-31 loss to the Bucs on Sunday.  He is becoming a franchise quarterback this team can build around.
