Weekend Observations

When you lose to a team that hasn’t won a game all year you know you’ve hit rock bottom.  That’s exactly where I am in one of my fantasy football leagues.  The only one that will be getting their feelings hurt this season is me.  ODB, Super Cam, and some guy named Hunter Henry went bat sh*t crazy causing my pathetic team to fall to 1-5.  Even the return of Russell Wilson and Jimmy Graham couldn’t stop the bleeding.  They played well and the Hawks won, but neither of those guys scored a touchdown.  Go figure.

In my trash talking league I was able to cruise to victory on the legs of Shady McCoy even though one of my receivers (Will Fuller) sat out with a hamstring injury.  I guess I should consider myself fortunate my opponent started Justin Forsett and Delanie Walker.  Those two players totaled a whopping 2.75 points on the day.  Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good.  It’s hard to gloat when you’re in 9th place so I’ll leave it at that.  Here are some observations over the weekend.

Clayton Kershaw has finally replicated his regular season dominance in the playoffs.  Kershaw followed up his save of game 5 against the Nationals with a 2 hit shutout to even up the series with the Cubs.  I guess we can say he’s worth the $215,000,000 contract.

Clemson and Ohio State survived near losses, but Michigan somehow moved up in the polls.  I won’t say this is East Coast bias preferential treatment from the media.  I’ll just say teams from the West coast (University of Washington) don’t always get the credit they deserve.

The Cleveland Cavaliers re-signed J.R. Smith to a 4 year $57,000,000 contract.  He is not the final piece of a championship puzzle, but it makes LeBron feel better and that’s almost as important.
