SeahawkCentric: Hawks Ground Eagles

The Seahawks won the battle of the birds on Sunday defeating the Philadelphia Eagles 26-15, but it was a costly victory.  DeShawn Shead, Earl Thomas, and CJ Prosise all went down with significant injuries.  Shead should be ok, but Prosise could miss up to 8 weeks and Earl will miss at least 2.  I’ve said many times before Earl Thomas is the 2nd most important player on this team and I never want to see what the Legion of Boom looks like without him.  My worst nightmare has come true.

Fortunately, the offense is playing much better.  Russell Wilson is finally healthy and his chemistry with Jimmy Graham gets better every week.  Thomas Rawls looked fresh and eager to pick up where he left off last season, but he was on a pitch count as a precaution.  When he was out there he looked great.  The pedestrian receivers continue to do what they do and the offensive line wasn’t such a liability.  The defense kept the Eagles in check and Cam Chancellor is playing at a Pro Bowl level.

Next up is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Ordinarily I would feel supremely confident about this match up, but the Bucs just went to KC and came out with the win.  They are 5-5 and only 1 game out of first place in their division.  I’ll wait to hear what adjustments Pete and the staff have up their sleeve before making a prediction.  Until then let’s all keep a SeahawkCentric state of mind shall we?
