Weekend Observations

This is the first weekend in over 3 months I watched an entire day of football without checking my phone once.  This is not because I have great self control, it’s because the fantasy football playoffs have begun and I’m not a part of it.  I don’t care who wins and I dont wish anyone good luck.  Screw those losers!  I must admit it was a stress free environment with lots of surprises, but not a position I want to be in next year.  Me and my GM gotta have a talk!  Here are some observations over the weekend.

Lamar Jackson winning the Heisman is a problem.  The best quarterback in college football isn’t eligible for the 2017 NFL draft and he isn’t that good to begin with.  What does that say about the rest of the class?  Cleveland, San Francisco, and Jacksonville picked the wrong year to be lousy.

Jeff Fisher was fired as the head coach of the Los Angeles Rams.  Didn’t he just hear about him getting an extension last week?  I guess fighting with Eric Dickerson isn’t such a good idea.

The Seattle Sounders are MLS champions!  I expect no less than half a million fans at the parade tomorrow.

Russell Westbrook’s triple double streak came to an end as the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Boston Celtics 99-96.  Statistically Westbrook is having one of the best seasons in NBA history and his all around game can’t be denied.  That being said Westbrook won’t get out of the 2nd round of the playoffs without Kevin Durant on his team.

RGIII made his triumphant return to the gridiron hoping to change the fortunes of the Cleveland Browns.  This did not happen.  Griffin was 12-28 for 104 yard and an INT as the Browns lost to the Bengals 23-10.  For his sake I hope he’s made plans for his life after football which begins January 3rd, 2017.
